Orthopedics is that branch of medical science that deals with the diagnosis and treatments of the diseases of the musculoskeletal system which includes part of the body like bones and joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves. It is this system that helps human beings and most of the animals to move their muscles and skeletal parts of the body.

Most of the orthopedicians are into consultation or surgery. These surgeries that they undertake are usually joint replacement surgeries or repairing of damaged nerves, etc. apart from adults they also treat children. They are called pediatric orthopedicians. These doctors also are involved in carrying out a lot of research. This research helps in finding out better methods of taking care of bones, joints and muscles and could also help in discovering new and better treatments for the same. Some of the orthopedic doctors are also involved in the field of education.
